How to Add New Users to Wix and Customise Permissions:


  1. Login to your WIX backend

  2. Navigate to Settings (left-hand-side column)

  3. Select Roles & Permissions or simply search for Roles and Permissions

  4. Invite Collaborators

  5. Add the Email address

  6. Select Role

    1. Use predefined role under General Roles, or

    2. Click on Create custom role to manage user permissions



How to Add Create Custom Role and User Permissions in Wix:


  1. Click on Create custom role to manage user permissions

  2. Name the custom role

  3. Select (check) the permissions or access for each category



How to Edit a Role and User Permissions in Wix:


  1. Click on the three dots next to the roles under General Roles

  2. Click on View all permissions to see the access levels

  3. Click on Duplicate to copy and edit the permissions



Frequently Asked Questions on Adding New Users to Wix and Customising Permissions

What are the roles available in Wix?


  • Admin (Co-owner): has all the access to edit the website as the website owner. They can change the domain, billing, etc.

    • For owner/business partner

  • Website Manager: manage and edit the website but cannot manage billing. It is the highest access you can give to someone to control everything in terms of design, editing, applications, etc of the website, but without owning the website.

    • For designer/management of the website

  • Website Designer: edit the website (fonts, colors, etc) particularly for design,

    • For designer

  • Back Office Manager: access to CRM; less common.

  • Content Writer: to edit and publish blogs and articles.



How many collaborators can I add to my Wix site?


By default, Wix sites have 1 free collaborator seat. Wix Studio users get 5 collaborator seats. To add more collaborators, you'll need to upgrade your site plan.



How do I change a collaborator's role or permissions?


You can update your collaborator's roles and permissions as needed. Go to the Roles & Permissions section in your dashboard, where you can assign different roles, edit custom roles, or remove collaborator access.



Can I change member role permissions after they've been set up?


Yes, you can update the permissions for member roles at any time. This is useful when you add new pages or if the role requirements change.



Is there a way to track the status of sent invitations?


Yes, you can check the status of a collaborator invitation in the Roles & Permissions section of your dashboard. Look for a 'PENDING' label next to their name, which indicates they haven't yet accepted the invite. You can also see when the invite was sent and how many days are left until it expires
