In case you find yourself in need of some video guidance, here's a quick 7-minute tutorial from XYZ Lab's Youtube Channel!

Topics Covered:

Step 1️: Navigate to your Meta Ads Manager

Step 2️: Click on "Reports"

Step 3️: Click on "Create Custom Report"

Step 4: Name your Custom Meta Ads Report

Step 5: Remove the pre-existing filters and columns

There is a pre-existing filter from the default report. The filter "Had delivery" shows only the campaigns / ad sets / ads that are delivered during the time range you set. If you want to see all the campaigns / ad sets / ads that are in your account, you should remove this filter.

There are some pre-existing columns from the default report. Since we want to start from scratch, we can remove these columns by clicking on the dropdown.

Step 6: Choose your Breakdown from the right-hand side menu

You can choose how you want to break down the report. You can also layer these breakdowns on top of each other. For instance, you can break down the report by campaign name and further by ad set name.

Step 7: Choose your Metrics from the right-hand side menu

You can choose the metrics that you want to showcase in the report. You can use the search function to find various metrics that are available.

Step 8: Save your Custom Meta Ads Report

This is a completed report that we have created. We have broken it down by campaign name and showcased important metrics such as results, cost per result, result rate, reach, CTR, post saves, post shares, and amount spent (cost).

Once you're happy with the report, you can save it as it is or save it as another report.

Step 9: Export your Custom Meta Ads Report

You can export your report in various file formats.

Step 10: Share your Custom Meta Ads Report

You can share the report by link to people who have access to your Meta Ads manager.

You can also share the report with people outside your organization that doesn't have access to your Meta Ads account by clicking the toggle next to "Share with others". You can also set a Link expiry if you want the set a time limit for access, and share the generated link.

Step 11: Access your Custom Meta Ads Report

If you want to revisit your report in Meta Ads Manager, you can click on the Reports dropdown and find your report under "Recently viewed reports".

Now that you've created a custom report on Meta Ads based on campaigns, we also recommend creating a similar report relevant to your ad sets and ads to deep dive into individual ad sets and ad performance. You can do this by customizing the breakdowns.

Aside from that, if you have campaigns that are running globally, you can also break down by country or region to see which ones are working best. If you're running your ads on both Facebook and Instagram, you can break them down by platform to see which audience is responding better to your ads. If you're trying out Advantage+ Placements and want to know which placements work better, you can break the report down by placement. There are numerous ways for you to customize the report in order to get the data that you need to supercharge your marketing strategy!
