Frequently Asked Questions on Linking Google Ads with Google Analytics 4

Why should I link Google Ads with Google Analytics 4?

Linking Google Ads with GA4 allows you to see full-funnel performance data, from ad clicks to on-site conversions. It helps you analyze how users behave after clicking your ads, track conversions more accurately, and use GA4 audiences for remarketing and campaign optimization.

How do I link my Google Ads account with Google Analytics 4?

Log in to your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property.

Click the Admin (⚙️) icon in the bottom-left corner.

Under Product Links, select Google Ads Links.

Click Link → Choose Your Google Ads Account.

Enable Personalized Advertising and Auto-Tagging (recommended).

Click Submit.
Once linked, your GA4 and Google Ads accounts will share data automatically for better reporting and optimization.

Can I import GA4 conversions into Google Ads?

Yes. After linking both platforms:

Go to Google Ads → Tools & Settings → Conversions.

Click + New Conversion Action → Import → Google Analytics 4.

Choose the events (key conversions) you want to import.

Click Import and Continue.
GA4 conversions will now appear in Google Ads as standard conversion actions for reporting and bidding.

What are best practices when linking Google Ads with GA4?

Always enable Auto-Tagging for accurate cross-platform tracking.

Use consistent naming for conversion events across both systems.

Regularly verify that data is syncing by checking the Advertising → Google Ads section in GA4.

Build GA4 audiences (e.g., cart abandoners or engaged visitors) and use them directly in Google Ads remarketing campaigns.

Monitor differences between GA4 and Google Ads conversions — variations are normal due to attribution models.
