Frequently Asked Questions on Removing a Credit Card from Google Ads
Why would I want to remove a credit card from my Google Ads account?
You may want to remove a credit card if you’re changing your payment method, switching billing ownership, or simply closing your account. It helps prevent unwanted charges and keeps your payment profile up to date.
How do I remove a credit card from my Google Ads account?
Log in to your Google Ads account → Tools & Settings → Billing → Summary.
Click Manage Payment Methods.
Locate the card you want to remove and click Remove.
If that card is your primary payment method, you’ll first need to add a new card or bank account before removal.
Can I remove my only payment method in Google Ads?
No. Google requires at least one active payment method for an open account. To remove your only card, you must either add a new payment method or cancel your Google Ads account entirely under Billing → Settings → Cancel Account.
Will removing a credit card affect active campaigns or billing history?
Removing a card will not delete your billing history, but active campaigns may pause if no valid payment method remains. Make sure you add a new payment option before removal to avoid campaign interruptions.
