Frequently Asked Questions on Switching Off Automatically Created Assets in Google Ads
What are automatically created assets in Google Ads?
Automatically created assets are AI-generated headlines and descriptions that Google Ads produces for your Responsive Search Ads (RSAs). They’re based on your landing page content, existing ads, and keywords. While they can improve ad variety, some advertisers prefer to turn them off for full message control.
How do I switch off automatically created assets in my Google Ads account?
In your Google Ads dashboard, go to Settings → Account Settings → Automatically Created Assets.
Toggle off the options for Headlines and Descriptions.
Click Save to confirm your changes.
You can also disable them at the campaign level by editing ad settings directly under Automatically Created Assets in your RSA setup.
Will turning off automatically created assets affect my ad performance?
It depends. Turning them off gives you complete control over your ad copy, which is ideal for regulated industries or strict brand voice requirements. However, it may reduce ad variations and limit Google’s ability to test new combinations. You can monitor performance and re-enable them later if needed.
Can I selectively use automatically created assets for some campaigns only?
Yes. You can choose to keep them enabled for certain campaigns while disabling them in others. This flexibility allows you to test how AI-generated copy performs against your manually written ads.
