Common mistake: signing up for a Google Express account
A common mistake when you first sign up to create a Google Ads account is to follow through all the steps as they are presented to you by Google when you come to this screen.
You really wouldn't want the Google Express account as it is a limited interface that doesn't give you all the options. If you're wondering about the difference, below is a comparison between the Express (Smart) Mode interface and the Expert Mode interface.
Express 'Smart' Mode
As you can see, there are plenty more features you can access in the Expert mode. In the subsequent sections, we will show you an easy way to avoid going through Google Ads Express, for those who are creating a new Google Ads account, and those who already have a Google Ads Express account.
If you are creating a new Google Ads account
Step 1: Navigate to https://ads.google.com/home/ and click "Start Now"
Step 2: Scroll down and click to "Switch to Expert Mode"
Step 3: Click on "Skip campaign creation"
Once you switch to Expert mode, the system will prompt you to create a campaign. You don't have to go through this stage, so you can just click Skip campaign creation.
In the next step, you can just fill in your business details such as billing, time zone, and currency, and click Submit.
Finally, you can click on Explore your account to start exploring your Google Ads account and its full interface.
If you already have a Google Ads Express account
Step 1: Navigate to Settings
Step 2: Click on "Switch to Expert Mode" and confirm the transition
Remember, don't rush through the process of creating a Google Ads account, and just take it one step at a time. Now you can enjoy your new, proper Google Ads interface with all the features in its full might!
